Similar to sections 6, 9, 12, and 13, MasterSeal is a traditional asphalt emulsion seal coat. This material is designed to form a protective layer over an asphalt pavement, sealing surface asphalt and preventing oxidization. MasterSeal can be sprayed industrially by a contractor (here, the application was by Apex from Golden, CO), or purchased directly from SealMaster and applied. This material is strengthened by sand to keep traction on the road’s surface.

The application was installed in two coats, allowing around 2 hours between for curing. The road was closed for 24 hours before being reopened for traffic.
